  • Why will Zixty not give me a quote?
    Sorry that we couldn’t give you a quote this time. We work closely with our insurer partners to be able to offer quotes wherever possible. However, the insurers do have certain instances, often based on address; occupation; age; licence; and vehicles where they are not prepared to offer quotes.Featured
  • I am borrowing a vehicle from a friend, who needs to take out the insurance?
    The person that will be borrowing and driving the vehicle needs to take out the policy. The person lending the vehicle will be advised when the policy has been set up by their email address which you will need to provide. You must have the consent of the vehicle owner to take out cover with Zixty.Featured

  • Can I request that you delete all of my data?
    If you have purchased a policy we will need to keep the data that relates to the period of your policy for 7 years. If you haven’t had a policy then we can delete your data and close your account on request. We do reserve the right to retain anonymised data. To request data deletion, please use the customer services chat feature in the app or from the zixty.com web site.Popular
  • Can I drive the vehicle if I cannot see it on the Motor Insurance Database (MID)?
    It can take up to 48 hours for the vehicle to be updated on to the MID. Your Zixty policy cover starts on the date and time shown within your policy documents. Your cover is valid even if the vehicle is not showing.Popular
  • What level of cover does my Zixty policy provide?
    Zixty provides you with Comprehensive cover for Social Domestic and Pleasure purposes as well as for commuting to your normal place of work. We also cover business use (Class 1) which covers driving to and from other business locations in your normal course of work for your main occupation (please note no delivery or taxi use is covered) For commercial vehicles we give Carriage of own goods cover in connection with your occupation.   • I need to call you but cannot find your phone number?
    Please contact us via the live chat facility on the Zixty.com web site or within the app where we will be able to assist. If you need to make a claim your insurers claim contact details are on your policy documents.Popular
  • Can I start cover immediately?
    Yes. Once all the quote details have been obtained it takes just a couple of minutes to get you on the road should you wish to have immediate cover - please check your documents for the exact start time of your cover - please note we default to 5 minutes in advance of the current time on the app to enable all processes to be complete.Popular
  • Can I take out cover to take my vehicle to get an MOT?
    Yes, as long as the MOT is pre-booked at an MOT test station then you are covered to drive. We do perform an MOT check that will advise you during the purchase journey.Some readers
  • I don’t have my driving licence with me – can I buy the policy without it?
    No sorry. We use the driving licence information to look up details about you, and your entitlement to drive. We cannot provide a quote without a scan of your driving licence in the app but we can offer a quote on the website where we just need your licence number. Please note we require a full UK or provisional licence (held a minimum of 12 months for commercial vehicles) or an EU licence held for a minimum of 3 years.Some readers
  • How we calculate carbon offset for your journeys
    At Zixty we use the DVLA provided emissions data in relation to the vehicle you have insured as our emissions level for carbon offset calculations. We then use the Zixty Miles part of the app to measure the miles travelled and calculate the Eco trip score based on your driving. This is then used to calculate the total emissions which is translated into the number of trees to plant, which when fully mature will offset the carbon used.   • Are you FCA registered/legitimate insurer?
    Zixty Limited, is an Appointed Representative of Movo Partnership Limited, who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.   • Can I drive abroad (European mainland/Republic of Ireland/Channel Islands) with this cover?
    Zixty policies provide the minimum level of cover required by the laws of compulsory insurance for you to use the vehicle on road in: A) Any country which is a member of the European Union. B) Any country which has agreed to follow the European Union directives relating to compulsory motor insurance and is approved by the commission of the European Union. Zixty miles will not be able to identify miles driven and we will therefore not be able to carbon offset any of the miles travelled whilst abSome readers
  • I have an error/decline code. What does this mean?
    There are numerous reasons why we may decline. The most common codes are below: 301 - Not located in England, Scotland or Wales 311 - Driving license type. We only cover full UK licenses held for 12m or more 312 - License not issued in UK 313 - Expiry date of license 314 - Age outside of criteria. We cover ages 21-75 321 - Address validation check 331 - Reason for cover decline. We do not cover impounded cars 341 - Declared lender email invalid 351 - General insurer no quote - Car groupSome readers
  • The vehicle is not insured elsewhere/ there is no other policy in force on the vehicle – is that ok?
    Yes that is fine.Some readers
  • How can I access my insurance documents?
    The best way to get your documents is through the Zixty app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. If you don’t have a smartphone, simply head over to https://zixty.com/my-documents/, where you can view and download your documents.Some readers
  • Will you remind me when my policy is due to end?
    Yes we will look to alert you via your email address that your policy is due to expire. This will also include details to arrange a new policy if required.Few readers
  • What if I want more than 28 days cover
    Unfortunately Zixty only currently offers short term insurance to a maximum of 28 days (a new policy can then be arranged) If you are arranging new cover you will only be able to start this at expiry of your current policy. Short term insurance is not really designed for longer than 28 days and it may be more cost effective to look at other insurance products that are more suitable.Few readers
  • Does this policy allow me to tax my vehicle?
    Yes, taking out a Zixty policy will enable you to demonstrate that you have a valid insurance policy in place when taxing your vehicle and whilst you get a longer term insurance policy in place. However, please remember that it can take a few days for the Motor Insurance Database to update which will be required for the DVLA to get the confirmation that the vehicle is insured.Few readers
  • What if I delete the app?
    Why would you want to do that? 😊 The app is the way you can access quotes, policy documents, and Zixty Miles. If you have deleted the app, or changed your phone, just download the app, log back in and we will retrieve all your details for you. Any of the benefits associated with Zixty Miles are also removed if you delete the app or remove permissions to stop location services. We do also offer cover via the zixy.com website.Few readers
  • What age do I need to be?
    We can only offer cover for drivers aged 19-75 (17 on provisional licence) for cars and aged 21-75 for commercial vehicles.Few readers
  • I don’t live in the UK but want to drive a friend’s vehicle in the UK?
    We can only cover UK residents who have lived in the UK for a minimum of 12 months. If you live abroad but still have a UK address and will be in the UK for the duration of cover then subject to passing our validation checks and holding a full UK licence for a minimum of 4 months we may be able to offer you cover.Few readers
  • Can I add another driver to my policy?
    Not at the moment but this is something we are looking to consider introducing. If you want to add another driver then the other driver will need to buy a separate policy.Few readers
  • Do I have to start cover immediately?
    No you can choose to start cover up to 30 days in advance to a maximum duration of 28 days.Few readers
  • Will this cover a test drive?
    Yes you can take Zixty insurance out to cover a test drive but you must have the owner's permission.Few readers
  • How do I prove I have insurance in place?
    Your policy documents will be available within the Zixty app or via the document portal and will include information that you can share with the relevant authorities if required. Our insurer partners are available to contact if necessary and all information is available within the policy documents.Few readers
  • Do I need to own the vehicle?
    No, and a lot of customers take out Zixty insurance because they are borrowing someone else’s vehicle. The owner of the vehicle will be notified by email that cover is being arranged.Few readers
  • What if I don’t know the vehicle registration number?
    Unfortunately we can’t give a quote without the registration number as we use it to look up details of the vehicle you want to get covered. We can provide you with a quote really quickly and you can take out cover instantly so as soon as you know the registration number come back and get a quote.Few readers
  • What is Zixty Miles?
    Zixty Miles is a free service that enables us to offset your carbon emissions from trips driven while on cover. By enabling Zixty Miles we will plant a tree on your behalf, carbon offset a further 100 miles driven per policy day, show you your eco driving scores and be able to detect accidents within the app. Coming soon there will also be discounts/rewards on future policies.Few readers
  • Does the vehicle and policy get registered on Motor Insurance Database (MID)?
    Yes we will ensure the vehicle is loaded onto the Motor Insurance Database (MID) and taken off when the cover ends. Please be aware that this can take up to 48 hours to get updated.Few readers
  • Why have you charged me a fee to set up the policy?
    We have various costs involved in setting up and maintaining your policy and these costs are covered by the fees we charge. All fees are clearly shown in the purchase journey.Few readers
  • Do you provide No Claims Discount (NCD)?
    Afraid not. No Claims Discount is usually only earned after a full year's Claim free driving. Zixty cover can extend to a maximum of 28 days and so doesn’t earn any No Claims Discount. We don't rate our short term policies on NCD either.Few readers
  • Why has the price changed from the quote on the website?
    The initial quotes displayed on the website are indicative rates as confirmed online. Once you have completed all required information we run various background checks to calculate the final price.Few readers
  • Do you only do cars or can I insure a Van too?
    We cover cars and commercial vehicles (up to 3.5T gross vehicle weight) please note there are exclusions i.e vehicles above group 45, tippers, drop-sides, motorhomes etc.Few readers
  • Do you cover modified vehicles?
    We do not cover performance or cosmetic modifications. We do however cover tow bars and vehicles adapted for disability as well as manufacturer fitted options.Few readers
  • Do you accept non UK driving licences?
    Yes we accept EU licence holders who have held an EU licence for a minimum of 3 years. We also require a minimum of 3 year UK residency at the same address for EU licences. We do not offer cover for International licence holders.Few readers
  • How much is my excess?
    The excess you have to pay in the event of a claim varies by insurance partner - if you have a look at your policy documents in the app it will tell you the excess you would have to pay in the event of a claim. We also offer an additional excess protection policy that will reimburse a portion of your excess.Few readers
  • Do you offer a 12 month policy?
    We do not offer this within Zixty at the moment. In the future we are looking to offer a modern usage based annual insurance offering.Few readers
  • Does this policy affect the lenders policy?
    No, your Zixty policy supersedes the lender's policy whilst in force and any claim you need to make will be against your Zixty policy.Few readers
  • Can I use Zixty cover to travel to and from work?
    Yes, Zixty cover can be used for driving to your normal place of work or to other places in connection with your work. However, it does not cover activity where the driving activity is for reward such as couriers, delivery drivers or taxis. For more information please see the policy terms and conditions.Few readers
  • I am lending my vehicle to a friend, who needs to take out the insurance?
    The person that will be borrowing and driving the vehicle needs to take out the policy. If you are lending the vehicle we will advise you when the policy has been set up by email.   • Can I have my documents posted to me?
    We are a digital first insurance provider and are trying to reduce carbon footprint so are keen not to print and send out insurance documents for a short term policy. If you need them printed and posted please click on the live chat function within the app. Documents will be posted 2nd class prior to 5pm on the day requested (Mon-Fri).   • Can I get a quote without downloading the app?

  • The compulsory excess is quite high, am I able to reduce this?
    Sorry, Zixty doesn’t allow you to change the compulsory excess that has been set by the insurers. We do offer an optional Excess Protect cover option that reduces the excess payable in the event of a claim.Few readers
  • Why does the Zixty app not accept my payment card?
    There are various checks performed when payment is attempted including name and address checks. We don't accept certain payment cards i.e prepaid debit cards. Please ensure you also have sufficient funds available to purchase the cover.Few readers
  • Can I use this insurance to release the vehicle from impound?
    No, sorry but Zixty doesn’t cover recovery of impounded vehicles.Few readers
  • What values do you cover?
    We cover cars valued between £500 & £50,000 and commercial vehicles valued between £1000 & £25,000 (insurer depending). We use various sources to check values and work on the average forecourt price to determine the value of the vehicle which unfortunately cannot be amended.Few readers
  • Can I drive a SORN vehicle?
    No, unfortunately we cannot cover SORN vehicles.Few readers
  • You declined my vehicle, why?
    We decline based on a number of vehicle factors - car group/age of vehicle/body type i.e tipper/value/ (min £500 -max £50,000) being the most common.Few readers
  • Can I add a voluntary excess to bring the price down?
    Sorry, unfortunately we are not able to offer additional discounts for taking an additional voluntary excess. We do offer an optional Excess Protect cover option that reduces the excess payable in the event of a claim.Few readers
  • I couldn’t find my occupation in the list?
    There are so many different job titles and jobs out there it is really difficult to cover everything. Please select the occupation that is closest to yours.Few readers
  • Do you accept provisional licences?
    Yes we do accept provisional UK licence holders from age 17.Few readers
  • Can I drive Other Cars with this policy?
    Unfortunately not. Zixty cover only provides cover for the vehicle you have specified within the policy.Few readers
  • Can I take a test-drive using short term van insurance?
    Yes. A Zixty short term van insurance policy is designed to cover a test drive – provided that you have the owner’s permission and the van is in a roadworthy condition.Few readers
  • How long can I be covered for?
    You can choose flexible cover from 1 hour to 28 days at a time, and extend it whenever you need more practice.Few readers
  • Does the vehicle and policy get registered on MID?
    We will ensure the vehicle is uploaded to the Motor Insurance Database (MID), and removed when cover ends. Please be aware that it can take up to 48 business hours for MID to be updated – something that’s common for a lot of short-term insurance companies.     Your Zixty short term van insurance policy supersedes the lender’s policy while in force. The lender’s No Claim Discount will not be affected if you need to claim against your Zixty van policy.Few readers
  • Who takes out temporary van insurance if I’m lending a van?
    If you’ve decided to lend your van to a colleague, a friend, or in fact anyone, then it’s up to them to take out a temporary van insurance policy. They’ll need your permission first, and that’s it. In the unfortunate event of a claim involving your van, your insurance and your No Claim Discount are not affected.Few readers
