# What is Excess protection?

Excess Protection is an additional optional cover that you can choose to add to your policy which reduces the overall excess you will have to pay in the event of a claim. Please bear in mind that you will need to pay your excess to your insurer and then claim back the relevant amount from our excess protection partner.
